Strategic

For CEOs who need somewhere to think.

Independent

I work privately with a small number of CEOs when the decision is theirs and the answer is not obvious. Together, we test the thinking, challenge assumptions, see what might be missing and work out what to do next.

When the decision matters

When you are the person others look to, some decisions are difficult to work through with the people around you. The information may be incomplete, different interests may pull in different directions, and the consequences can reach your people, your business and the future you are building.

You do not need someone to make the decision for you. You need space to think, an independent perspective and someone prepared to challenge the thinking without an agenda of their own.

I have made those decisions as a CEO, challenged them from the boardroom and carried leadership responsibility across complex organisations where different interests, perspectives and priorities have to be brought together. That means we can get quickly to what matters: what you know, what you may be missing and what you are prepared to do next.

Why the conversation is different

Leading the business

I have been the CEO carrying the decision, building the team, growing the business, making acquisitions, navigating significant change and seeing the journey through to two successful exits.

So I understand the pressure behind the question, not just the question itself.

Challenging from the boardroom

As a Chair, non executive director and Chartered Director, I know how decisions look from the board side, what good challenge sounds like and when governance helps rather than gets in the way.

So we can test your thinking from more than one perspective before the decision leaves the room.

I have carried the decision as a CEO, challenged it from the boardroom and led in environments where authority alone is never enough. That mix means you are not getting one perspective on the problem.

Leading at scale

My leadership responsibilities extend across complex organisations and large communities of people, where leadership depends on influence, judgement and the ability to create alignment rather than hierarchy alone.

So when the challenge is influence, alignment or consequence, I am not approaching it as theory.

At a certain level, experience is not simply stated. Judgement, credibility and the ability to operate at scale are tested before responsibility is entrusted.

For you, that means the person across the table has carried responsibility, not simply observed it.

You get support and challenge in equal measure from someone who understands the weight of the decision, can see it from several angles and will tell you what people inside the business sometimes cannot.

There is no programme to follow and no model to fit you into. The conversation starts with your situation, your judgement and the outcome you are trying to create.

Responsibility is entrusted

Small by design

There is only one of me, and advising sits alongside my Chair, board and wider leadership work. So I work privately with a very small number of CEOs.

You work with me, not an associate, and I stay close enough to your world that we do not have to start again every time we talk.

I am not building a large advisory practice. Keeping it deliberately small means there is time for context, continuity and the conversations that do not fit neatly into a scheduled meeting.

Either I am the right person for you or I am not. A first conversation is usually enough to tell.

“Private advice when the decisions matter.”
